Overview

The Executive Director of Institutional Research reports to the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness and is responsible for a broad range of activities involving data collection, analysis and reporting in academic and administrative areas. The Executive Director plans, prepares, and produces a variety of regular and ad-hoc queries, reports, and publications to meet external reporting requirements, such as IPEDS, accrediting agencies, state reporting, etc.; and internal informational needs, including environmental factors affecting the University. The individual in this position performs statistical analysis to support institutional planning, analysis, process improvement and decision making. Manages and responds to internal and external request for institutional data.

Responsibilities

Provide information and data governance oversight to support decision making, planning and evaluation. 

 

Maintain and disseminate institutional data and information in compliance with applicable regulations including the Common Data Set. Coordinate survey efforts, prepare and present study results and complete data requests.

  • Manage the University’s reporting requirement to state, federal and external agencies.
  • Respond to internal and external request for institutional data. Conducts educational research and generate needed reports to include advanced statistical analysis and database report writing.
  • Develop and manages the University’s Fact Book, and Resource room.
  • Develop analytical studies and reports to facilitate decision-making.
  • Manage accreditation database and provide accreditation support as appropriate.
  • Assist the Vice President of Planning, Assessment and Information Services with special projects, grants and reports. Assist the AVP as needed with administration of other surveys and testing initiatives.

Other projects as assigned by supervisor within the scope of the position.

Qualifications

  • Must possess excellent computer skills and familiarity with Higher Education Enterprise Systems and data analysis software such as SAS, Excel, and Access.
  • Earned Doctorate in relevant field of study preferred, Master’s Degree required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in quantitative and qualitative research, statistical analysis, and reporting.
  • Working knowledge of current trends and issues relating to federal and state reporting; accreditation requirements; current and innovative practices in the development and assessment of institutional effectiveness and student learning outcomes; current theory and practice in institutional research; the development of assessment tools and methods of measurement; research design; data warehousing, management information systems.
