To assist, educate, and encourage college students to assume responsibility for the prevention of illness and the promotion, maintenance and restoration of health. Reference the Nursing Practice Act as established by the South Carolina Board of Nursing for nursing standards of practice. Responsible for duties assigned by the Director in accordance with the Vice President of Student Development and Services; and adhering to the objectives of the Department/ Program.
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) will report to the Senior Staff Nurse and assist in providing medical assistance to students diagnosed with illnesses and in teaching preventative health practices. The LPN’s responsibilities include, but may not be limited to: providing basic medical care to students and/or referring students to the Senior Staff Nurse or University Physician for formal treatment; ensure the completion of health forms for new students; assisting with the Claflin University Student Athlete physical examinations; issuing class excuses; completing and recording insurance claims and providing first aid coverage at University special events. The LPN will also assist in monthly inventory reporting of all supplies and equipment.
Candidate must be a licensed nurse in the State of South Carolina. One to two years of experience in the field is highly preferred.
